Barnbow Lasses (we are)

Hello..

I'm officially back at LCM after a lovely Easter Break back home in Hull and it's great to be back in London again.

Last week I had the most amazing time in my first rehearsals for National Youths Music Theatre's (NYMT) show Brass, which is to be performed at the Hackney Empire in August. It's a beautifully moving show with a fabulous script and score by Benjamin Till.
It follows the story of a working class brass band from Leeds in WW1 who sign up to the Leeds Pals whilst the women sign up to Work at Barnbow munitions factory and become the Barnbow Lasses.
Rehearsals happened at Sevenoaks Boarding school which is just beautiful I felt like I was in an Enid Blyton book all week, it was very Naughtiest girl in the school. The school grounds were gorgeous and Sevenoaks was such a cute little town.
Rehearsals were twelve hour days which sound really long but the week whizzed by so fast. The show sounds amazing and I can't believe that this time last week I hardly knew my cast mates and now they feel like family. The next set of rehearsals aren't until August and I miss everyone already, however in true WW1 fashion we are going to write letters to one another. There's something special about getting a letter that you don't get with a Facebook message and I love the idea.

I loved NYMT but it is nice to be back in my own bed at uni and see my classmates. I'm especially happy to get back to wearing my normal clothes as I spent the whole of last week looking like a homeless scruff in old shirts and leggings although I did wear my new David Bowie T.shirt with pride on the Wednesday haha.

During Easter I'd been wearing loads of  prints that really should never be put together but I love a colour explosion so I'm probably going to continue throwing patterns together.
I'm in love with my new holographic shoes at the moment. There from John Roccha at Debenhams and were meant to be £55 but I got them for £15! They're so shiny it's fab! On Saturday I wore them
with my culottes from Blitz Vintage from Brick lane and a floral shirt from Boohoo. My jumper is my favourite and is really special to me as it belonged to my Grandpa and was given to me from my Grandma. I think it's so nice to have something that was his and in a sense a little piece of him. The broaches and accessories are just random pieces I've picked up from Ebay or vintage stalls. I think the lockets from Judy's vintage fair that was held in Hull city Hall ages ago.

Hopefully next week I'll have some free time and can visit the sky garden. I really want to go at sunset. I'm also looking forward to a vintage fair on the first of May but that seems so far away. I also want to nip into central for some window shopping. I've had my eye on a sweet shirt, babydoll play suit from Zara however I'm yet to decide weather I could be trusted to keep it clean as it's white and I don't think this goes well with my tendency to knock cups of tea over (haha).

Anyway it was just a quick post this time, hopefully when exams are over I can go on more little adventures around London my flatmate and I have compiled a list and I'm determined to do as many as possible before I go back up north for the summer.

Good night, have a good week x
